Aussie - I once attended a congregation where, just a few years prior, a well-known family in the hall was on their way to the Kingdom Hall. Cross the rail road tracks, a friggin train took them out. horrible. just horrible. Congregation was DEVASTATED. I never knew them, but those who did would always sadly point out how this tragedy "just shows you that this is Satan's System." But yet, the WTBS loves to tell these "experiences" of how some Sister in Warzonia lost her job, walked 360 miles through crocodiles, warring militias and active volcanos to attend the Convention and was blessed for it with a new and better job. Given the predominant JW attitude towards these kinds of occurances, it is certainly fair to ask how the WTBS will spin this. Why does their interpretation of God protect some "faithful servants" and not others?
TheOldHippie - I completely respect your view, you're right. ANYBODY dying is a terrible tragedy, and should be handled with care. However, I don't think the OP is treating this in a disrespectful or undiginified way. He is asking a legitimate question.
Chances are, there will be little mention of this in the Western world. Therefore, our discussing this incident may be the only attention it gets, sadly. But lots of confused JWs come here as well as other people who may be thinking about becoming JWs to get a glimpse of the reality of this religion. So their reading questions like the one Aussie posted here might make a difference and help prevent someone from dragging their families and children into this harmful cult. But you are right, it should be treated with dignity.
